Benifit of Swimming to our mental health

When we talk about human mental health, we often ask a person to imagine the seaside, the beach, or a stream of water. The reason is that looking at water makes us feel calm, peaceful, and relaxed. when just seeing water can have such a therapeutic effect on our mental health, imagine what immersing yourself in water can do!The activity I mean here is one of my favorite summer activities, swimming!Swimming has many positive effect on us

The first advantage of swimming for mental health is that it reduces the levels of stress and pain hormones in our body. Swimming increases the levels of happy hormones, endorphins in our body. This, in turn, reduces our perception of pain, giving us a feeling of positivity and happiness.

The main cause of potential stress is that we are never in the present moment. Either we are constantly evaluating our future or regretting our past, and thank technology and our devices for forever helping us break out of this cycle! Luckily, when you are immersed in water, swimming, you are in the present moment. Then, the focus remains on your movements, the rhythm of your body, and there are no devices to distract you. Thus, helping you break out of the cycle that causes stress.

This, in turn, can have a positive impact on an individual’s mental health. Studies have found that immersion in water improves blood flow, which can improve memory, mood, cognitive function, and mood.

Exercise has been found to improve your sleep. Swimming is a full-body workout that can help you sleep better. Another reason why swimming improves sleep is that it reduces our stress levels. As stress levels drop, sleep quality improves. Swimming laps may help you get rid of the tossing and turning caused by anxiety before bed.

Swimming can also serve as a social anxiety reliever. Swimming is a great way to meet like-minded people to share experiences and learn new swimming techniques. It is a sport that has a social connection to it. You can also make new friends in the pool, or even meet them outside, making swimming your social center

More similar studies have shown that swimming can help reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and even dementia.
